Heirs United

A families’ initiative · since November 2026

Grief has enough paperwork.

When someone dies, the money they kept with a broker, a bank app or a crypto platform belongs to their heirs. Too often the platform asks for the same papers again and again, and the family gives up. Heirs United keeps the file, finds the right door, and stays with the case until the money is paid.

In memory ofJoão “Jony” Mirandawho died on 2 April 2024. His family started Heirs United.

File 01 · eToro (Europe) Ltd · Cyprus · as at 7 Nov 2026

Every mark is a day.

  • 318 days since the family first wrote to eToro, on 24 December 2025.
  • 102 of them since eToro wrote that it had received “the bank details and all requested documentation”, on 28 July 2026.

No payment recorded. No transfer date.

  • Received ✓28 Jul 2026
  • Validated ?not confirmed
  • Paid —not recorded

The count includes weeks when it was the family’s turn to reply, so not every day is eToro’s. Receipt is not validation: in July eToro also said it would write “if any additional information or documentation is required”.

File 01 · the correspondence

eToro and a deceased client’s account, in its own words.

  1. Family

The family writes to eToro with a photograph of the death certificate. An automated reply says that address is not in use and points to a contact form.

  2. eToro

Through the contact form, a case opens. An automated reply confirms it.

  3. eToro

eToro acknowledges the death certificate and asks the estate’s administrator to get in touch, then closes the ticket for lack of a reply. This gap is the family’s.

  4. Family

The family reopens the case with the death certificate and the deed naming both heirs, and asks for one complete list of requirements.

  5. eToro

A five-part list, and a promise: Once we have received and validated the documents, we will send the funds within 10 business days.

  6. Family

The family sends fourteen files: the deed, the death record, proof that there is no will, tax records and identity documents, with an heir’s bank account.

  7. eToro

Thank you for your prompt response providing the bank details and all requested documentation. The case goes forward for the finalization of the account closure and the processing of the transfer of funds.

  8. eToro

Three more emails ask again for Proof of relationship for both heirs and Payments details for both heirs.

  9. Family

The family resends the deed, asks that payment go to the estate’s administrator and asks for a formal complaint; on 14 October, for a transfer date.

  10. eToro

Its final response lists six kinds of document eToro already holds, and says: I sincerely apologize for the extended time this process has taken, as well as the repeated and sometimes conflicting requests for documentation. It then asks to verify the death certificate it acknowledged in January, and for an authenticated copy of the deed it has had since May.

  11. Family

The same day, the family points to the pages already on file and asks for one final list or a transfer date by 6 November.

  12. Today

6 November, the date the family asked for, passed without a reply. No transfer date.

Every email, summarised and fingerprinted, as at 29 October 2026: the case · the email record · cases, law and costs.

The scorecard

One estate, platform by platform.

Revolut

Paid the estate.

eToro

Not paid · 318 days

Documents received in July 2026. In October, still verifying.

Other platforms are still being checked. Each one appears here when its file is complete.

How Heirs United works

One file, the right door, and a clock.

  1. One file

Every email, date and document in one place, the originals untouched. Nobody has to search an inbox to prove what was sent in May.

  2. The right door

Each platform has a bereavement desk, a complaints channel and a referee who can rule: an ombudsman or a regulator. We find all three, and their deadlines, before anyone writes.

  3. Calm pressure, on a clock

A reminder when a promised date passes. A formal complaint on the date we named. The ombudsman when the complaint runs out. Each step firmer than the last, and never a threat we would not carry out.

  4. Together

When the same delay repeats across families, a regulator or a consumer association reads a number, not a story. Your file joins others only if you say so.

What we never do

Facts are enough.

  • Call anyone a thief or a scammer. We publish dated facts, in the platform’s own words.
  • Name or post a platform’s employee. We write about the company.
  • Trade silence for payment. When a platform pays, we say so, and after how many days.
  • Speak for anyone who has not agreed. Not for the person who died, not for an heir.
  • Use fake accounts, fake reviews or pile-ons. One family, one voice, under its own name.
  • Pretend to be lawyers. We are a families’ initiative; nothing here is legal advice.
